Abstract:
Delivering quality and co-creating curricula in TNE, especially those that are ‘connected’ to students local contexts and future career opportunities, presents a challenge in TNE. If not done well, it may present challenges to sustainability of TNE , the impact and value TNE delivers locally and how partnerships can support TNE graduates towards successful outcomes. These challenges are often dependent on quality and our ability to genuinely co-create the curriculum. To achieve this, it is essential that HEIs work to promote cultures of continual enhancement, through genuine, or you could say ‘connected’ , processes of curriculum co-creation. In this presentation, we wish to reflect on how we do it at UoP, using a case study of our partnership with Roots Ivy. We will draw on operational processes we have established to facilitate reciprocal and participatory curriculum development for this partnership. We will also present examples of successful curriculum and assessment contextualisation supported by these processes. We will also reflect on the challenges of implementing the connected curriculum in contexts where some of the principles of this approach (such as industry collaboration or authentic assessment) cannot be applied in the local context, and/or due to local regulatory requirements.
