Migration status of modules for 2025/26
The migration of our Moodle environment to a cloud supplier (Catalyst IT Europe) is progressing well.
Over 75% of TB1 and year-long modules for 2025/26 have been successfully migrated to our new cloud-based Moodle environment. Once your module has been successfully migrated, a pink banner will appear at the top of your current Moodle module with a link to your new cloud-based module. More information about the migration batches can be found in our cloud move tracker article.
Load Testing (11-14th August)
Our cloud-based Moodle environment will provide a robust and scalable environment to handle huge user traffic at busy times such as the start of term and during assessment periods. The Catalyst team will be conducting load testing on the platform during 11-14th August to ensure the platform meets the needs of our students and staff. The platform will be unavailable to users at this time.

Cut-Over Week (18-22nd August)
At the start of Thursday, 21st August, the web address for our current on-campus Live Moodle Environment will be changed to moodlearchive.port.ac.uk. At this time, our new cloud-based Moodle environment will become moodle.port.ac.uk.
It is anticipated that all live ongoing modules where students are still being actively taught will be migrated on Thursday 21st August. This may continue into Friday 22nd August, if the weight of modules is too great to process in one day. Both Moodle environments will be unavailable to staff and students for a short time on Thursday 21st August so essential work can be completed.
This will minimise disruption for students who need to continue using these modules during the summer months.
Examples of modules that will be migrated during cut-over week include TB3, London, MRes, Prof Doc and CEG modules.
IMPORTANT: Trailing and Third Attempt Assessments
Trailing and third attempt assessments should be conducted on our current on-campus Moodle site to minimise disruption for students. This environment will have the moodlearchive.port.ac.uk web address after August 21st.
