We’re delighted to welcome our Academic Skills Advisers (ASAs) to CADI. This is an exciting development: for the first time, CADI will have staff in directly student-facing roles, adding a new dimension to our work supporting learning and teaching across the University.
The team will help students develop the academic skills, confidence and independence they need to succeed in their studies. Support covers academic writing, critical thinking, understanding assessment briefs, using sources, referencing, planning and presentations, alongside approaches to dissertations and longer assignments.
Students can access individual support through face-to-face appointments on campus and online. The team will also develop group sessions responding to common student needs.
At the heart of the service is a developmental approach: helping students understand their next steps and build skills they can apply to future work. This complements subject-specific teaching and the wider support available across the University.
