The Digital Innovation team in CADI has been busy testing a Moodle plugin developed by UCL to support large file submissions.
The plugin replaces functionality in Wiseflow which was used for student projects like games development and architecture which tend to include huge multimedia files. The plugin will use Amazon digital storage to allow uploading of very large files (between 250mb and 10Gb). Submissions will be archived to “cold storage” 90 days after the marking deadline to reduce ongoing storage costs.
The team are testing the plugin for release in early September ahead of the start of the academic year. Wiseflow should be used for the remaining large file submissions in the 2025/26 academic year, including the summer ref/def period providing marking is fully completed including moderation by the end of the first week in August.
We hope this will help academic teams plan for the next academic year. More information will be released once the plugin has been installed and tested on Moodle.
