The University of Portsmouth has a proud history of success in both the NTFS and CATE, underscoring the outstanding quality of our staff and their commitment to student success. We are now seeking nominations from individual staff and teams who exemplify excellence in teaching and learning. If you believe that you or your team have made significant contributions that have enhanced the student experience, we strongly encourage you to submit an expression of interest. Staff from academic and professional services are welcome to apply. This is your chance to gain national recognition for your efforts and join a national community of professionals who are celebrated for their impact on Higher Education.

Expressions of interest (EOI) must be submitted via our NTF/CATE website by 5pm on Friday 11th September. The EOI process has been significantly revamped for this year so please be sure to read the revised EOI guidance. Following an internal review process, up to three National Teaching Fellowships and one Collaborative Award submission will be selected to represent the University. Successful nominees will receive mentoring support to help refine their applications ahead of the final submission deadline in March 2027.

To assist you in preparing a strong nomination, the Centre for Academic and Digital Innovation (CADI) is hosting a series of information sessions for NTF and CATE on: 17th June, 6th July, 22nd July and 4th August. Please book for these sessions via the CADI catalogue on Docebo.

Achieving a National Teaching Fellowship or a Collaborative Award is not only a prestigious honour recognised within the UK and internationally but also a gateway to joining a network of educators committed to teaching excellence in Higher Education. And let’s not forget, award winners are celebrated in style at an exclusive awards ceremony!

Don’t miss this chance to elevate your teaching career and gain the recognition you deserve. Visit our NTF/CATE website for more information and to start your journey toward becoming a 2027 award winner.
