Martine Ashmore
Academic Support Adviser
Martine has over 10 years’ experience supporting learning, including teaching English as a Second Language. With a degree in Pharmacology and an interest in supporting learning, she began working at the University within the Faculty of Science and Health as a Learning Support Tutor. Here, she provided one-to-one and group academic skills support across a range of disciplines, with a particular focus on the Graduate Entry Medicine programme.
In her current role she continues to support students across the University in a similar capacity. Martine particularly enjoys helping students find a clear and manageable way through academic tasks that can initially seem complicated or overwhelming. She takes a clear and practical approach, with a focus on building students’ confidence and independence in approaching academic work. She holds a PGCertHE and Advance HE Fellowship (D2), which inform her approach to designing effective, inclusive and student-centred learning support. With experience in writing, editing and content development, she is also interested in creating clear, accessible resources for learning.
