Welcome to CADI - Supporting you to Teach Well, Consistently Well
The Centre for Academic and Digital Innovation (CADI) is the University of Portsmouth’s centralised hub for learning and teaching excellence. Bringing together expertise from across the university’s learning design and technology teams (both faculty-based and central services), CADI is here to enhance academic and digital support across the campus.
Our team is a collaborative community of Digital Project Specialists (DPS), Digital Learning Developers (DLD) and Learning Designers (LD). Together, we work to nurture innovation, consistency and excellence in teaching and learning.
CADI operates under the leadership of Professor Anne Murphy, Professor Ale Armellini, Dr Andy Clegg and Mr Mike Wilson.

Current Position on Exams (June 2025)
The University’s preferred position is to phase out traditional exams –especially those that simply test memory– in favour of more inclusive and authentic assessments, which are both AI-resilient and AI-embracing, as appropriate.
We continue to encourage the use of presentations, practicals or vivas that are appropriately aligned to learning outcomes. In-class tests can also be accommodated.
