Preparation
- Practice sounding natural.
- Have water available to clear your throat.
- Ensure your mobile device is silenced.
Appearance
- Avoid clothing with colours that blend in with the background (Avoid green)
- Avoid shiny, patterned, pin-striped or dotted fabrics.
- Avoid noisy accessories that could interfere with your audio.
Delivery
- Look at the camera/teleprompter at all times
- Speak naturally and more slowly than you typically would in person.
- Keep your hand movements/gestures to a minimum.
- Stand/sit up straight and keep your shoulders relaxed.
Answering Questions
- When responding to question prompts, begin by rephrasing the question at the start of your answer instead of diving directly into the response. For example, rather than stating, “Yes, in the main auditorium,” say, “The meeting will take place in the main auditorium.”
- Refrain from speaking while others are talking or responding; it helps maintain a clean and clear audio recording.
- Begin and conclude your responses with a few seconds of silence while looking directly into the camera.
- Start and end your answers clearly (Avoid starting every sentence with “so" and "um" and refrain from upward intonations at the end, like you would when asking a question)
- Restart your answer again if a noticeable noise interrupts your answer.
