Learning Designer

After graduating with a degree in Architectural Technology and working in the construction industry for 12 years, Jenny retrained as a teacher of mathematics in further education and earned her PGCE in 2018. She initially taught GCSE maths resit students at Chichester College before coming to work at the University of Portsmouth as a Learning Support Tutor in Civil Engineering and Surveying.

Jenny is interested in data analytics and was involved in a project investigating the ethnicity awarding gap at the University. She went on to complete an MSc in Statistics and is interested in finding ways to better utilise quantitative data to inform teaching practice. Jenny began working as a Learning Designer at Portsmouth on a part-time basis in 2022 with a particular focus on supporting students through the transition from FE to HE and strategies for closing the awarding gap.

Alongside her Learning Designer role, Jenny is currently studying for a PhD in Sustainable AI with the University of Southampton.
